How Much Does the Word Have to Do with Salvation?

We often hear that salvation is by faith — but what part does God’s Word play in it? This teaching walks through that question. Watch, and then consider how the Word and the Savior are one and the same.

The Word Made Flesh

The Bible does not separate the written Word from the living Word. John opens his gospel with a stunning claim:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and lived among us.” — John 1:1, 14

The Word who spoke creation into being is the same Jesus who went to the cross. To receive the Word is to receive Him.

Faith Comes by Hearing

So how does the Word relate to salvation? The Scriptures are clear:

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” — Romans 10:17

The Word awakens faith, and faith lays hold of Christ. The Word and salvation are bound together — not as a system to earn, but as the voice of the Shepherd calling His sheep.

A Prayer

Lord, open my ears to Your Word and my heart to Your Son. Let the Word made flesh be my salvation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
