The Gift You Could Never Earn

The most freeing sentence in the Bible is also the most offending: you cannot earn it. You receive it.

"for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God," - Ephesians 2:8

Not of Works

If it were of works, someone could boast. Grace removes the boast and the burden.

Of Faith

Faith is the empty hand that receives. It contributes nothing but welcome.

For Good Works

Grace does not make us lazy; it makes us free to actually love.

A Prayer

Father, thank You that salvation is a gift I could never afford. I receive it by faith. Amen.
